• Each team has been given a specific time slot for pictures, and by now your coach or team parent should have contacted you about what time you need to be there. If not, please contact your team parent for details.
• There's also an opportunity for players to have individual pictures taken.
• Even if you're not planning on purchasing a team or individual photo, as a courtesy to others on the team, please make sure your child is present for the team picture anyhow.
• Pictures are taken over near the Mackay Jaycee soccer fields, under the pavilion in the woods, near the playground.
• They run a tight ship, so be on time for your team's scheduled slot.
• RAIN OR SHINE! Regardless of any possible weather-related game cancellations, picture day will go on as scheduled unless otherwise announced.

Hello Junior Baseball Players, Coaches and Parents.

With the season starting tomorrow we wanted to pass along this bat regulation material. All material and information can be found at www.littleleague.org. In Junior league you may use the new USA standard bats. However, you may also use the old BBCOR standard bats as well. Please see the note below from Little League for Intermediate and Junior Baseball Divisions.

NOTE 2: Also, permitted for the Intermediate (50-70) Division and Junior League Division are bats meeting the BBCOR performance standard, and so labeled with a silkscreen or other permanent certification mark. The certification mark shall be rectangular, a minimum of a half-inch on each side and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color. Aluminum/alloy and composite bats shall be marked as to their material makeup being aluminum/alloy or composite. This marking shall be silkscreen or other permanent certification mark, a minimum of one-half-inch on each side, and located on the barrel of the bat in any contrasting color.

Road Construction on Kalamazoo Ave

The city of Grand Rapids will be resurfacing Kalamazoo Ave between Alger and 28th Street this summer. The city is working on schedules and will update us once finalized. We will have access to Southern, but it will be very congested. We'll keep you posted as we learn more. In the meantime, you can view the city's updates here.

It is now time to sign up for Southern's Senior League Baseball.

The season starts AFTER the high school baseball season concludes, so there are no conflicts with your school team.

The deadline is May 15 at 11:59pm, after which you will be assessed a late fee.

Practice Fields are Open for Business!

The practice fields at Southern and at Lakeside Elementary are ready for use for scheduled practices. At Southern, the grounds crew will be cleaning leaves off the fields, so please be patient and share space as needed. Opening day tomorrow evening and Saturday are a go, weather permitting.

Opening Day Update

The winter weather continues, and all fields remain unplayable. So practices are canceled again for today at both Southern and Lakeside Elementary.

The season is slated to start on Friday evening and Saturday. We're hopeful the snow will melt by then, and we'll do our best to get the fields ready in time. We'll let you know by 2:00pm on Friday whether or not we'll be going ahead with opening day.
