The District 9 Big League baseball team returns to action tonight (Thursday) at 7:30pm against the South team from Greenville, SC. After suffering a tough loss against the West on field 3 which is only 300 feet all around, (D-9 and the Southwest were the only two U.S. teams to play 2 games on this field) District 9 has no way of advancing to the finals round, even though they could be 3 and 1. With this scenario already determined it has not lowered the spirits of the D-9 team, as they will decide who gets in the U.S. final with tonight's game. The game will be broadcast live on the radio and you can access the link by going to bigleagueworldseries.org.
Interesting note: Total runs scored per game on field 1 (Stadium) 7.3. Total runs scored per game on field 3 - 18.0. Tiebreaker: total runs allowed divided by innings played.

District 9 Big Leaguers Move to 2-0
District 9 Big Leaguers are now 2-0 with an impressive win over the East representative New Jersey. Kyle Schepel (GR Christian) was the starting hurler for D-9. He threw six innings allowing one unearned run in the first inning. Schepel struck out twelve in the impressive outing. Alex Beelen(Holland Christian) got the save when D-9 doubled off a runner on first with a 6-4-3 double play. JD Corey (West Catholic) and Tommy Okke (Union and GRCC) both homered in the game. JD Corey now has eight RBI's in the two games. Mike Slagter also doubled to knock in a run and then went on to score. It was a cool 101 degrees at game time, however a cold front is coming through and it should be around 96 at game time today.
District 9 continues action today at 4:00pm versus the West team from Anaheim, CA. Stay tuned to bigleagueworldseries.org for all of the action. Today's game is scheduled to be broadcast live on the bigleagueworldseries.org website.

Big Leaguers Win First World Series Game
District 9 Big League Baseball played it's first game Saturday against the Southwest(Louisiana) and won 12 to 7. Cody Westerhuis was the starting pitcher followed by 4 more pitchers with Tommy Okke getting the save in the 7th with a 1,2,3 inning. Back to back home runs in the 6th inning proved to be the final blow to a Louisiana team that had several very good hitters and would not throw in the towel. JD Corey led the inning off with a solo blast to make it 11 to 7, and with a new pitcher in for the Southwest, Kyle Schepel followed with another solo blast. Tommorrow is a day off for District 9, with the next game set for 4:00pm Monday against the East from New Jersey. Stay tuned to bigleagueworldseries.org for all of the action.
