There has been some misinformation floating around about the advantages of skipping the tryout date. We want to strongly discourage this idea. Every player in the 9-12 age group that was not on a Major League team last year is required to attend the tryout. Tryouts are really our only way of keeping the teams balanced and the competition fair in our league.
The official Little League rules state that skipping the tryout can result in being permanently banned from playing in the Major League. We would very much not like to have to enforce that rule. So here's what you can do:
- Please make your absolute best effort to attend the tryout as scheduled.
- If you absolutely cannot attend when you are scheduled, please contact the director before the tryout date.
- If your coach or other league members advise you to skip the tryout, please inform them of this post.
- Please understand that if you skip the tryout, you will not necessarily be assured a spot on the same team as last year nor will you be assured the same coach as last year. Skipping the tryout will likely mean that you are placed on a team at random.
- Any 9 or 10-year-old who misses the tryout for any reason (including coaches' sons) will be placed in the Minor League.
- If you have any questions or concerns, please contact the director.
